early antique Gilbert Erector set model P58 dc electric motor 1915
more photos of this product belowEarly vintage Gilbert Erector set model p58 D.C. (direct current) electric motor. This motor is marked "6 to 14 volts only - Use Batteries or Transformer". We didn't see a date on the motor itself, but we were told that Gilbert made the P58 motor to replace the earlier model 56 and the p51 erector set motors and that it was manufactured from 1915 through about 1934.
This measures about 2.75" high, 2.5" wide and 2.25" deep. The motor shaft is about 1/8" in diameter. This is mounted on an old pine board. The motor has some rust and age, but the motor shaft and rotor are free to turn. We've not tested it and are selling it for restoration or parts.
