old early 1888 Dept. Agriculture report/yearbook w/engravings and color litho plates
more photos of this product belowEarly old 1888 "Report of the Commissioner of Agriculture" from an old farm estate. This year book was printed by the Government Printing Office. This has 708 pages and more then 60 illustrations, including many full color lithograph plates and engravings. This report has many lovely color plates of fruits and insects. We saw a number of engravings of equipment used in the silk industry.
This book even has a large section on raising ostriches in the United States. We didn't know that there was an ostrich farming industry in the US in the 1800s. There are engravings of an ostrich egg incubator, ostrich chicks with a dog and more.
This book has wear and age. There is some mildew staining to the cover from years in an attic and some spotting and minor staining to the pages.
