1848 book Modern History, antique 19th century textbook w/ beautiful old paper, font, engravings

Early Victorian period book 'Modern History', dated 1848. One of the oldest books I've found - I love everything about this. The ancient looking paper with the impressed font, the engravings, the very worn binding and cover.

The history is 'modern' only as far as it's take on very early history, this is not a history of say, the 1600s, 1700s or 1800s.

Condition is poor - but really, amazingly good for a piece of this age and type. A lovely, truly antique piece.
