early antique Palco aluminum camping or hunting canteen w/1915 patent
more photos of this product belowOld early aluminum camp canteen made by the Worcester Pressed Aluminum Co of Worcester, Mass. It is marked with a US patent date of May 4, 1915. It measures about 7 1/2" across and is a little over 1" thick.
This is in nice condition with some light wear.
Aluminum enjoyed early use for making cookware and utility items for campers, hikers, hunters and fisherman because of its light weight compared to the alternatives (such as cast iron and enameled steel).
We've been told that Palco made mess kits for the US Army and Navy for both WWI and WWII.
