vintage utilitarian steel sewing bird, patented needlework clamp for table

Very plain old steel sewing clamp, for a extra set of hands to help with your needlework. These are generally called sewing 'birds' and many we've seen have been shaped like a bird, but not this one, nothing too fancy here.

The 'head' measures about 2 1/4" long, clamps smoothly and tightly, though there's noticeable surface rust on this piece. It's marked only Patent Pending - USA.
