antique pocket watch fob chain, gold tone untested engraved W Gruel Victorian vintage

Beautiful very old watch chain, gold colored or possibly gold filled? No marks that I could find besides Pat Pend'g, and the former owner's name engraved, as shown. Not terribly worn, but does show a little use.
