Lot of three early antique hand wrought iron skewers for open hearth fire place (or campfire) cooking . They measure from 8 1/2 inches long up to 10 1/2 inches long with hand forged rings for hanging
These antique iron skewers are from an old farm estate in south-western Wisconsin, (the Amish country of Wisconsin). The Old-Order Amish ("Plain People") reject needless decoration and frills and prefer a simple, utilitarian design in their crafts and we suspect that these could be the work of a Amish blacksmith (either here in Wisconsin or Pennsylvania and brought west) because of their simple, but functional workmanship.
These old cooking skewers have a great patina of age.
