large solid brass key, steampunk style paperweight for work table or desk

Solid brass key, 7 1/2" long. We have no idea what it's original purpose was (it's broken at the lock fitting parts, as shows in the photos), but we love it, and think it makes a great paperweight since it's heavy and flat.
