natural wood carving seashell sculpture, large hand carved beach sea shell

We love this beautiful large carved wood piece, though we haven't been able to track down very much information about it. It's numbered with a paper label, and doesn't appear to have a signature that we could find.

The wood is solid and quite heavy, and the entire piece measures about 7 1/2" x 13". The finish is probably an oil, this doesn't look to be varnished. It's an amazing piece of primitive art.
