vintage cotton quilt top, old hand-stitched compass pointed star blocks

Beautiful bright colors on this 1940s or 50s vintage quilt top, and eye-catching compass star pattern! The blocks are all hand-stitched with the pieced stars, and were then joined block to block with a sewing machine.

This is a quilt top (no fill or backing fabric, not quilted). The edges are raw and unfinished, and the entire piece measures 84" x 66" as it is.

It has a number of serious condition issues (some large raggy holes, and spots which we have not attempted to remove... this has never been laundered). So it'll need a little work, or make excellent cutter fabric, or salvage for the problem-free quilt blocks.
