old distlefink folk art hand-painted metal tray, blue birds & tulips

Vintage metal tray (very heavy) with old hand-painted birds and flowers design in bright colors on black. Measures about 18" x 12" overall.

We have no idea as to the exact age of this piece, but probably early 1900s or earlier judging from the weight and the design of the metal tray. (We really can't tell from the look of the paints, we know much more about metalwares than we do about art!)

The painting is folk art, a simple style and somewhat amateur in execution. It's also a little worn and peeled from years of age and use.
