antique Hamilton Beach early electric vintage reversible motor works

Early electric vintage small reversible motor... a Hamilton Beach Home Motor. This motor is wired with a short cord with a plug and it has a bakelite control for changing the direction of rotation.

We pluged this and it runs in both directions. There seems to be a little stiffness getting started and a little more crackling of sparks in the commutator while running clockwise than when running counter-clockwise, but this is probably just age and oxidation to the copper and brushes and will go away with a little more running.
