early 1900s vintage Winnebago Indian basket, old antique woven ash wood handle basket

Nice old woven ash basket, a handmade Winnebago basket early 1900s vintage. This one is not in perfect condition (there's a couple of breaks to the caning) but the handle is sturdy and the handle joins have no breaks.

It measures about 12" x 12" x 12" over the basket, and has Indian hand woven written in pencil on the bottom. This was used as a sewing basket for many years, but aside from that, we know almost nothing of its history.
