40s or early 50s vintage china dishes set for six, American Home china in the Carmen pattern. We aren't sure of the pottery which made this pattern, possibly Sebring, or Paden City, something like that? We're guessing that American Home was probably a specialty division for a department store or catalog.
It's a lovely set with a old-fashioned cottagey style, a pink rose in bouquets of pretty colored flowers. There's a chip to one saucer and some fine crazing lines, but overall this set looks really nice, no discoloration or scratching, very little if any wear to the gold.
There's six each of cups and saucers, 10" dinner plates, 7 1/4" salad plates, 8" soup bowls, 6 1/2" bread and butter plates, 5 1/4" fruit bowls. (Sizes are approximate, I just measured these with a yardstick.) There's also a covered bowl or tureen, an oval platter, and a couple of round vegetable bowls for serving.
