Unmarked hand painted covered box or candy dish, a large Easter egg about 5 1/2" in diameter x 6 3/4" tall. This looks like Hand Painted Nippon vintage to me, though I couldn't see any marking. Almost certainly Japan, early 1900s.
It's sadly not in the best of condition - it was well loved, and has noticeable wear to the gold from dusting and handling. There's some tight hairline cracks to the jar only, which seem to be holding well.
I think this is the largest china egg I've ever found, still a beauty in spite of it's flaws!
