vintage farm primitive wire basket, old antique wire work horse muzzle

Here's a large old wirework item... we were told this was a horse muzzle, must have been for large work horses, it's big!

Measures about 9" across the rim of the basket, and is 8" deep. This has some surface rust and slight structural damage as shown.
