Lot of four vintage farm feed sacks, unbleached cotton fabric with great old graphics printed in red and blue. These are all from Depies Feeds, New Holstein, Wisconsin. Phone number just two digits, number 18.
These are full sacks, still sewn up as bags measuring about 21" wide x 38" long. One sack is marked colorfast, three are supposed to be the wash out printing.
Needless to say, I haven't washed these - but it's been my experience that the ink is pretty well set at least in cold water after about 60-80 years! I've cleaned sacks with a cool sponging and a very gentle soap. I've lost the printing in warm water, dish detergent or oxi-clean.
These probably can't be scrubbed up to make modern farmhouse style pillows, but I'd frame and hang these authentic vintage pieces just as they are! They do have some spots and soil, and they don't (and won't ever) look new at this point.
