antique vintage solid brass farm & garden sprayer/duster pump, D.B. Smith&Co, Utica, NY

Old antique solid brass hand pump for a hand sprayer or duster from an old farm estate. It is stamped "D. B. Smith & Co., Utica, N.Y. We're not sure of the exact age of this pump, but we're guessing late 1800s to early 1900S (probably between about 1870 and 1920).

This pump measures about 26" long overall and about 1" across the cylinder. There is a "christmas tree" fitting for a rubber hose on the one end and a threaded fitting with a leather gasket washer on the end of the plunger with the handle. We believe that this has a ball valve inside (as we think that we can hear the ball rattling around), but we haven't taken this apart.

This has some wear and age and we're not exactly sure how (or if) this still works.
