Old 1940s World War Two service flag with a single blue star. It measures 7 3/4" x 5 3/4" and is made of silk (we think). It is quite sun faded.
These flags were mostly used during WWII and were given out to families with sons or daughters on active military service. Blue stars were for active duty servicemen and the star was changed to a gold star for families that had lost a family member in the service (the "Gold Star" families).
