Beautiful aesthetic period 1880s vintage silver meat tray, not marked that we could see, but doubtless Sheffield plate (silver plate over copper or brass). The silver is rubbed from use and polishing, and shows a brassy color base metal.
This is very heavy and quite large, about 23" across the handles, 14 1/2" wide across the rim. The handles are very unusual, and have been drilled out at some point. We'd guess that they would have held horizontal handle 'sticks' or pivots of some type.
