1940s vintage quilt top, made from a needlework kit of that period, all vintage cotton and cotton print fabrics.
It's a pretty Dresden plate pattern, in very good condition, never used or laundered. It's an unusually large size - big enough for a queen bed when completed, I think! This measures 86" x 102" over the unfinished edges.
We saw a few light spots from years of storage - nothing major. The only real flaw we found was that the blocks had printing along the edges which now show in the quilt in places. This was made using very tiny seam allowances, hence the very large size of it!
I've heard that most of this sort of pattern / instruction printing is supposed to wash out in hot water, we haven't tried it here since we thought this will be much easier to back and quilt without laundering. A little rick-rack would probably cover it all if it doesn't wash out!
