1950s vintage army green fabric with a herringbone twill weave, soft all cotton fabric, smooth, strong, medium weight material. I believe this was probably military surplus, and it looks as though this was a large project never completed. Tons of good fabric here for sewing / upcycling.

This is 36" wide fabric across the selvages, two lengths 7+ yards long seamed together lengthwise. There's more than 14 yards of 36" wide fabric if you rip this seam out.

The fabric isn't perfect - my guess is that this was camping gear or a sun shade in the making, left in a barn for about 60 years. There's a streak of barn red paint on it (see photos), and there's some holes and chews from mice mostly at the selvage (see photos for the one holey area that's at the center of the fabric). Problems are mostly on the outside fold, and the edges.

It's nice and clean overall, no smells, very few soil marks, no sign of mice beyond those holes. I haven't laundered it - that'll be much easier if you decide to take this piece apart or cut it down into more manageable sections.
