Bright cotton chenille and cotton thread embroidery - a sunbonnet girl and bluebells - on an unbleached muslin pillow cover, vintage 1940s. The pillow top is attached by the fold to the same muslin as a backing fabric, never sewn up into a pillow case shape. (That's a little confusing, what I mean it that the stitched design is worked at one end of a rectangle, which folds in half to become a pillow with front and back 17" square.) This is in nice shape, with just a few small brown spots from storage.
