Beautiful antique homespun linen bed sheet, mid-1800s vintage, made from flax grown here in Wisconsin. Please see the close-up photos for details of all the tiny hand-stitching, including the seam down the center of the sheet.

This sheet is made from linen fabric 34" wide, two lengths joined down the center to make a sheet wide enough for a bed. The sheet is 92" long, hand-hemmed on the ends.

This piece has a very interesting history, it's said to have come out of the first hotel or lodging house in Janesville, Wisconsin. It's been numbered, and marked with the owner's name in ink, so we think that story is probably true. It's been in the family of the original owner for four generations since.

The fabric is a lovely snowy white (wish all of our vintage linens looked this good!) and largely free of spots or soil marks or foxing. There are no holes to the fabric, though there are some irregular thick and thin spots from the hand spun and hand woven fabric.
