Old World War Two 40 mm brass shell casing that has been made into a trench art ashtray for a soldier or sailor. The casing is engraved with dots and reads This shell was used in sinking German submarine U-515 - Easter Sun. Apr 9 '44. A great piece of the WWII Allis fight against the German U-boats.

We found some interesting information on U-515 online including photos of it in flames during the attack by the American destroyer the U.S.S. Chatelain.

The cigarette rest is made from a French coin. This measures about 2 3/8" across at the base and about 3" high.
