vintage nun figurines, composition or papier mache nuns creche figures

Three little brown nuns, about 4 1/2" tall. These are probably made in Italy or Japan (can't quite see that tiny foil label!). They're 50s, 60s or 70s vintage, late mid-century 'dime store' pieces.

They're some type of papier mache or composition or a light weight ceramic, we think. All are in very good condition - that's the original matte finish on these pieces, not marks from handling.
