1870s antique illustrated Works of Dickens, 15 volumes, 19th century vintage
more photos of this product below1879 illustrated collected works of Charles Dickens, published by Carleton's - New York. These volumes measure 7 1/4" x 5", and the pages are very nice, clean overall with very little spotting, not yellowed or brittle. (That's the good news.) The bad news is that the covers on every one of the fifteen volumes is very worn, ragged, chewed, dirty or stained!
These are good, fairly early American editions, with lots of great drawings by H. K. Browne, a nice choice for re-covering or binding repair.
Titles are - Our Mutual Friends - Oliver Twist and Uncommercial Traveler - Little Dorrit - Nicholas Nickleby - Sketches by 'Boz' and Hard Times - Martin Chuzzlewit - Barnaby Rudge and Edwin Drood - Bleak House - Christmas books, A Tale of Two Cities, and A Message from the Sea - David Copperfield - Dombey and Son - The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club (this one has a little staining to the first few pages) - A Child's History of England & Miscellaneous Pieces - Old Curiosity Shop, Master Humphrey's Clock and Miscellanies - Great Expectations, Pictures from Italy and Amercian Notes.
