1850s antique blue & white ironstone octagonal bowl basin, Cupid & Psyche Grecian ruins Clementson Sydenham
more photos of this product belowJoseph Clementson Staffordshire ironstone
china bowl, 1850s or early 1860s. This bowl originally had a lid, we
think, but displays nicely as it is. It measures 8" across the bowl, 10"
across the rim, stands 4" tall.
We haven't been able to track down this transferware print pattern -
lovers in a classical Greek or Italian scene - possibly Cupid and
Psyche? It's beautifully detailed, a finer example of a Clementson
piece.
The chinaware shows some discoloration (mostly underneath, on the
bottom) and a number of large and small chips. There's some rubbing and
finish wear (shows as the brown rub marks in the photos) from use, not
unexpected on a piece of this sort, 150 years old.
