1930s vintage Universal Cambridge Oven Proof china nesting stacking fridge boxes
more photos of this product belowCutest ever set of depression era leftover
boxes, art deco fridge containers made for oven to icebox use. These are
Universal Cambridge Oven Proof pottery, with sprig of flowers in
orange-red and blue.
This is a nesting stack of three round containers with lids. The largest
measures about 6" in diameter x 4 3/4". The smallest measures about 4
1/4" in diameter x 3".
These don't look bad from the outside, overall. It fact it's one of the
nicest Oven Proof sets we've ever seen.
BUT - this stuff seems to be amazing at staining and chipping, really. I'm
sure it was a wonder of its time, which is one reason that the stuff we
find today looks so bad! The insides and bottoms of these bowls are
crazed and stained. And there's a couple of tight hairlines and a couple
of chips over the set.
We wouldn't suggest these for oven use or very hot things like drippings
as they are. They do make a happy stack of art deco vintage kitchenware,
hard to find these days!
