1940s vintage sterling silver powder compact, heart shape engraved Dotty

Vintage Hinge Co powder compact marked Sterling (see photos). I'm not sure what type of finish this had originally - the finish is almost a gold color, and is noticeably worn from use, and also tarnished. The little heart on the lid is engraved 'Dotty'.

This is a pretty little piece which was much loved, and probably has seen times good and bad. It'll probably end up sold for scrap now - but here's hoping this heart will go on and touch someone's heart again.
