30s vintage friendship quilt, feedsack prints dresden plate autograph album quilt
more photos of this product below1930s vintage friendship quilt, each block made and 'signed' in embroidery by a friend or relative of the recipient.
I wish I knew the name of the girl this quilt was made for eighty-some years ago. I don't, all I know about her is that she lived in Illinois.
We do know the names of her family and close friends - two Aunt Margarets, an Anne, a Minnie, a Mabel etc. etc. There's even a block signed Mother, so sweet.
The fabrics are different on the blocks, and it's a wonderful variety of prints and patterns in all. Some nice feed sack prints, plaids and calicos here.
This measures about 78" x 98" overall. Each block has a dresden plate circle hand stitched in place, and the quilt was tied rather than quilted when finished.
It's never been used, but has yellowed a little with time, and has browning to the fold lines. Also some brown water spotting from storage - we haven't washed this, or tried to clean it at all.
