Bristol glass vanity powder box or candy dish, antique opal white glass w/ ruby floral

Antique 'Bristol glass' opalescent white glass covered bowl with ruby red floral and fine gold band. This has a nice glow when held to the light. And I love the unusual hand painted design here, a sort of a poor man's Bohemian style made to resemble cut to color glass.

This measures about 3 1/2" in diameter, 4 3/4" tall overall. A candy dish or a puff box? It's been used and shows wear to the gold and some roughness to the rim of the jar.
