MCM vintage California pottery studio art ceramic covered jar signed CWS The Simpsons San Diego dated 1949

Mid century mod vintage California ceramics, a jar with an incised design in a sort of Old Mexico style. Signed, dated, and marked on the bottom - I haven't been able to find much info on the Simpsons, their studio or their art.

This looks to me like a crackle glaze more than crazing to this piece? It's a hand drawn design, with hand painted colors in bold, modern earth tones. Jar with cover measures 5 1/2" tall overall, and is in very good condition without chips or cracks.
