Rex Bavaria pure white porcelain covered bowl or tureen, Haviland Ranson pattern molded ribbon bow
more photos of this product belowAntique china serving dish, an oval bowl with lid, about 11" across the handles. The makers mark is Rex - Bavaria, pattern the same as Haviland's Ranson.
It's not uncommon to find antique china dinnerware sets with mixed marks of Austria or Bavaria and Haviland Limoges - and this is one of those cases where a well known Haviland pattern has been made by a factory other than one in France. I knew this ribbon bow pattern as soon as I saw it, so the unusual mark didn't slow me down here!
Both the bowl and lid are in very good condition, clean and bright, no chips or cracks. One of the prettiest china patterns of all time, and in the plain white porcelain the shaping and high quality of the manufacture really stands out.
