WWI - WWII vintage US Navy wool helmet, flyer's uniform gear for flight deck or pilot

Vintage wool helmet made for the US Navy, World War I or World War II? This came out of an estate with military uniforms from both wars, and we haven't been able to find out much of anything about this piece! It is in very good clean condition, though.
