Mid-century illustrated edition of Sand in Their Shoes - The Story of American Steel Foundries by Franklin Reck and illustrated by John Langston. It covers the history of the company from it's founding in the Chicago area, its involvement in the development of railroad couplers, wartime production during World War Two and more! This book is copyright 1952 by American Steel Foundries and looks to be self published, probably as a commemorative piece to be given as a gift to salesmen, customers etc.

We've been told that American Steel Foundries' name was changed to Amsted in 1962, just 10 years after this book was published.

This book has some wear and spine is cracked between the signatures in several places.
