antique Taylor Hobson English brass optical lens for early camera or projector

Antique lens assembly in a beautiful brass setting marked Taylor Taylor Hobson - Leicester, London and New York. We've heard of Taylor Hobson camera lenses, but we were told this was lens for made for a for a projector or magic lantern?

The glass lenses measure approximately 1 1/4" and 1 5/8" in diameter. Please email us if you need more measurements, we're not exactly sure what to measure since we don't know how to put it together.

We know very little about specialty lenses or early camera equipment, and have not cleaned this or fiddled with it at all, not wanting to risk damaging the glass or the brass mounting adjustments.
