antique bronze ice tongs or sugar cube tongs, ornate birds claw foot design

Beautiful old bronze tongs with a birds foot design, very detailed. These have a lovely patina, though the original finish is somewhat worn.

These measure 6 1/4" long end to end... we're guessing sugar cube tongs rather than ice tongs, or possibly these were for olives, pickles, etc.?

We haven't been able to find any makers marks, date or other stampings on these at all.
