antique cast spelter bronze smoking pipe holder, doe deer or goat figurine

Unmarked 'bronze' cast pot metal stand for a pipe. I think this is a goat though it might be a deer. Probably German?

This is missing the felt at the bottom, and has considerable wear to the bronze or copper colored finish. Could use a good polishing, I think! Measures about 4 1/4" long.
