antique diamond patchwork quilt, tons of different 1800s & early 1900s print cotton fabrics
more photos of this product below
Very early 1900s vintage handmade patchwork quilt, all over diamonds of many, many different cotton fabrics (many late 1800s vintage). The border and backing fabric is a plain blue cotton.
This is right out of a farm estate here in Wisconsin, I don't know any more than that about the maker. She did a very good job, this was neatly pieced, and hand tied (with cotton batting as the filling) to finish. It measures about 66" x 80" overall.
This is in unusually good condition for a piece of this age and type - clean overall, very little discoloration or fading. Some of the fabrics in the pieced top are fraying, or have holes, or stitching undone, even a couple of diamonds missing. Not surprising really when it was made from worn clothes as the fabric.
There's a few mouse chews, too - I've shown the worst of the damage over the whole quilt in the photos, this looks much better than it sounds, or looks here! It will need a few mends, but this won't be a difficult thing to fix, and you'll have a nice, very early quilt.
