antique glass canning jar canister w/ Weck style wire closure, embossed patent date 1900

Unusual vintage glass canning jar or canister dated August 28 1900. The glass lid is held in place with two wire clasps at the sides, sort of a Weck type closure. The jar measures 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 8" tall to the top of the lid.

There's wear and age to the red rubber seal, and some slight edge roughness to the glass from production and / or use. The glass is nice and clear without age discoloration or purpling - overall, this is a very nice piece in excellent condition for it's age.
