antique industrial vintage marine ships engine steam gauge w/solid brass case

Large old early industrial vintage ship's engine room gauge with a heavy solid brass housing. The brass housing for the gauge measures 7 5/8" across the mounting flange and about 6" across the face of the gauge. The case is 2" thick. The gauge face is calibrated for 0 to 200 pounds / 462 feet and is marked USC - U. S. Gauge - 14143.

We've been told that this is a nautical or marine gauge from a boat or ship engine room because of the heavy brass housing and that it would have been used to measure pressure, probably of steam.

The case bezel unscrews to allow access to the interior workings of the gauge. We think that this would make wonderful case for a marine style wall clock!
