antique wood candle box for long taper candles, original old shellac finish

Late 1800s or very early 1900s vintage wooden box with lid, both with the original shellac finish showing age and some wear.

I believe this was probably a candle box, but it's a lovely piece for storing all sorts of things. Measures about 16 1/2" x 5" x 3 1/2" over the exterior of the box.
