antique wood mantel clock case w/ partial mechanism, paper label Hammond W C Gilbert

Old wood mantle clock case with some of the original clock workings included (no hands, no face, probably more missing than that - this is incomplete, as shown).

We love the old paper label. This is 'The Gilbert' 2280, Code Word 'Hammond' - whatever that means!

The clock case measures 15" x 5" x 10 1/2" - clock face would be 6" in diameter, if there was one, which there isn't. It has a sort of a creepy gothic feel as it is!
