Early 1900s vintage wood display box with original textured gesso, painted green with gold.

I have no idea what with was meant to display - sewing notions? hat pins, hairpins or jewelry? writing supplies? chocolates?

It's very fancy on the exterior, and very plain inside. Box measures about 12 3/4" long overall.

The painted color is so pretty, but sadly not in perfect condition, it's spotted with fading, or something light in color. Textured finish looks fine, though!
