1950s-60s vintage aqua plastic & aluminum bread box, retro Kromex style

Mid-century vintage aluminum and plastic breadbox, not marked, possibly Kromex? This measures 16 1/2" x 11" x 9 1/2".

There's some scratching and dulling to the aluminum (a good polishing would probably help quite a bit!), and an old price ($3.00) written in marker on the aqua plastic side panel. The plastic looks very good aside from that, so we were hesitant to start attacking it with chemicals. Mild dishwashing liquid does not remove it, we know!
