broken antique glass bottle, decanter w/ applied pewter overlay dull silver metal filigree
more photos of this product belowVery lovely, very broken old bottle, missing the entire neck, though what's left looks fine. It's about 5 1/2" in diameter x 5" tall.
We know nothing about this this type of work, and are not sure what it is properly called. It's like a dull lead colored soft metal (spelter? pewter?) made in to filigree lace, applied over the bottle, not fastened to the glass.
I don't think it's silver plated, but I suppose it could be very worn silver ormolu. Not sure of the age, could be anything from early 20th century on back to nearly ancient!
It seems fragile, but the overlay looks intact are far as we could see. It has a beautiful darkened patina which we love.
