Chinese dragons vintage embossed metal cigarette box humidor

Small metal box with an embossed design of Chinese dragons. We've been told that this is for cigarettes, but it would also be a nice desk accessory box for stamps, paper clips etc.

This box measures about 4" x 3 1/4" x 2 1/8". The bottom of the box is lined with cedar wood. We think that the metal is either pewter or spelter with a plated finish. It does have some condition issues.

The finish is worn and the back left-hand corners of the lid are split and there is a crack from the along the top edge of the lid from the left-hand front corner as well as a couple of minor dents to the lid. The plating on the inside of the lid is peeling.
