deco vintage candelabra candle holders, branched arms candlesticks w/ gilt gold paint over brass

Pair of vintage candelabra, about 10" tall x 10 1/2" across the arms. These have been painted gold, I think... although the metal underneath appears to be brass.

They aren't marked at all that we could see, and we're not sure if the finish is original, or applied later by a person who hated polishing! The shape seems very much like early to mid century vintage pieces, and the burnished finish gold color seems to fit well with this time period.

The paint is slightly worn and scratched, but the wear isn't terribly obvious as the brass color beneath is very similar. We have no ideas as to how (or even if) to remove the paint, but they're pretty just as they are so we've left them just as we found them.
