antique cast iron doctor's buggy or surrey driving whip socket

Original vintage old cast iron socket for holding the driving whip on a horse drawn buggy. This is the original antique whip socket and would have probably been used doctor's buggy or surrey. It measures about 7 1/4" long. This whip socket has a patina of age and a little light surface rust.

This is from an old farm estate in Amish country near Portage, Wisconsin.
